Getting Started.. why we always get stuck..

Getting Started.. why we always get stuck..

Getting Started… the very step of our journey & we are already feeling stuck..

This has always been a challenge for most of us. I am talking about new initiatives in life that we are clear we should be taking.

In the initial burst of enthusiasm and some external motivation, there is a very high likelihood that you take the plunge.

But very soon things start normalizing, tapering, slowing and we feel like taking things easy.
And we always have strong reasons to back our decision to slow down.

That’s where I have classified this stage as the Getting Started phase.

For us to say confidently that we are comfortably out of this phase, we have to be doing the activity,
preferably revenue-generating ones over a time-period of at least 3 months, that too on a daily basis.

Now, why is it that we get stuck in this phase?
I would call it the Perfection syndrome.

We want to be good in what we do, fair enough.
We do not want to be faltering or appearing to be faltering.
We are not ready to accept that we will make mistakes.
We want success that should not take too long.
We expect success like the people in our field whom we follow.

After an initial trial period we quickly slip back to rationalizing that you are not ready.
You need to build more knowledge and skill.
What will people say… & so on…

I have gone through all of the above and worst.
After my initial 2 Entrepreneurial ventures bombed I was keen to learn and implement new stuff.
But was seriously wary of making mistakes and appearing to be a failure.

Do you want to know what helped me get out of that phase of Non-action?

The acceptance that I will make mistakes
The acceptance that I will need to learn & take actions simultaneously
The acceptance that people may laugh
The acceptance that it is perfectly okay to make a fool of myself.

Remembered what one of my mentors used to say..
PERFECTION IS A MYTH, PROGRESS IS THE KEY!

Go ahead and explore your true potential Friends.
No one is there to judge you, not even you yourself.

This is your best time, so learn, explore, falter, pick yourself up and move ahead.

GET STARTED!!!  Very soon you will be flying!
